Exemption from the curfew: certificate from the Employer


The Hungarian Government published an example for a certificate that has to be completed by the Employer

The Hungarian Government announces new restrictions to slow the spread of the coronavirus. A curfew is instated between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Employer’s certificate is going to be needed for commuting to and from work. The Hungarian Government published an example for this certificate however, it is available in English only. You can download the certificate in Word or PDF format on the link at the bottom of this post. Please find further details below about the content of the official certificate.

Employer’s and employee’s data are both necessary, such as the employee’s name and address, employee’s ID or passport number, employer’s official name, employer’s tax number, and the place of employment. Only those going to work are exempted from the curfew, nonetheless, the reason for the exemption has to be marked in the certificate. There are three exemptions are listed in the certification:


  1. Work between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

  2. Commute between the place of employment and the employee’s permanent address, temporary address, and place of accommodation between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

  3. Participate in training or sporting events for professional athletes. Shuttling between the place training or sporting events and the permanent address, temporary address, and place of accommodation between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
