Regular reporting obligations via Enter Hungary
Guest Self-Employment Residence Permit holders can now submit their regular reports via Enter Hungary
Third-country nationals holding a Hungarian residence permit for guest self-employment can now fulfil their regular reporting obligation electronically through the Enter Hungary platform.
The permit is available to third-country nationals who intend to pursue independent, remunerated activities in Hungary - for example, as self-employed third-country nationals - or to act as the chief executive of a Hungarian business organisation.
When must the report be submitted?
There is no single reporting deadline applicable to every permit holder. The immigration authority determines the frequency and deadline of the reporting obligation individually. Permit holders should therefore check the decision granting their residence permit, which specifies when the declaration must be submitted.
The regular declaration generally requires the permit holder to provide:
- personal details and residence permit information;
- the type of business activity pursued;
- the company’s net sales revenue since the permit was issued, if the holder acts as a chief executive;
- the income earned from the business activity, if the holder is self-employed or a small-scale producer; and
- the number of days spent outside Hungary since the previous declaration.
The report can now be completed and submitted using the dedicated form available on Enter Hungary.
Why is compliance important?
Compliance with the reporting obligation is a statutory condition for extending the residence permit. An extension may only be granted if the permit holder has duly submitted the required regular reports. Providing false information may also result in the withdrawal of the permit or the refusal of its extension.
The permit is generally valid for a maximum of one year and may be extended for the same purpose, but the total period of residence may not exceed three years from the date of its first issuance. An extension application must be submitted exclusively through Enter Hungary, no earlier than 90 days and no later than 30 days before the permit expires. At the time of submission, the applicant must hold a valid permit and must have resided in Hungary for at least 90 days within any 180-day period.
Permit holders are therefore advised to review their immigration decision carefully, record the applicable reporting deadline and retain confirmation of every declaration submitted.
